We take the mental health and wellbeing of our students very seriously. We regularly assess all students and monitor student where there are concerns. These could include:
-
signs of stress or anxiety
-
eating disorders
-
self-harm
-
paranoia.
All students learn about the importance of positive mental health through our PSHE and Health curriculum. All students know who they can talk to in school.
For those experiencing difficulties we have a variety of support mechanisms in school. These could be one to one sessions or to targeted groups. For those most in need we do employ our own School Counsellor however other strategies will be normally be tried before a referral to her is made. The NHS Mind Mate website is an excellent source of advice and support.
We have good relationships with outside agencies such as CAMHS and the local cluster so we will refer students for more specialist support when required.
